The St. Bernadette's Ladies Guild was founded in 2006, by Janice Marengo, when she felt compelled to invite the women of St. Bernadette's Parish to join together in fellowship and service. To assist Janice in establishing the Guild were fellow parishioners; Bea Fowler, Betty Perkins & Marilyn Bott. Working together as a united group, the guild continues to build ties of friendships through serving the Parish and community agencies in need. We invite all women of the Parish to become a part of a dynamic and giving ministry. Our members are comprised of all ages, talents and backgrounds. The Guild works in collaboration with other Parish ministries for the success of each project. Under the direction of our Pastor, Father John Peter, we work to support the programs of St. Bernadette's.
The Guild meets on monthly basis. Our meeting includes breakfast, member fellowship, prayer devotion and event planning. During the meeting, we take the time to recognize our members' accomplishments and offer encouragement when needed. Throughout the month, our Sunshine Lady Marilyn Bott, sends greeting cards to our members and our parishioners who are in need of thought and prayers. During the year we sponsor charitable activities such as; providing Scholarships for our student parishioners, donating Thanksgiving turkeys and food baskets to the needy, giving donations of toys, blankets and clothing to shelters and sending children to camp. The Guild coordinates our annual fundraisers such as; a bake sale, rummage sale or fashion show.
Our members enjoy social occasions together with bus trips , luncheons, picnics and Parish sponsored events. Also for the past few years the guild has organized an Arts and Crafts Exhibition, showing off the talents that reside in St. Bernadette's parish. Going forward, we will continue to work together or the Parish and the community. Looking back, we cherish the memories of our former and deceased members. The guild now more than ever is resolved to helping others. Our Guild's photo albums, lovingly chronicled by Kathy & Christine Thompson, have captured the years of our sharing and caring together.
